The NSW Government has launched four innovative education partnership projects working with the community and business in a new direction to save water.
As part of the Government’s Water for Life Education Program around $300,000 is being invested in partnerships with the Ethnic Communities Council of NSW, the Australian Conservation Foundation, the Property Council of Australia and the NSW Science & Geography Teachers Associations.
Meeting Sydney's water needs depends on a continuing partnership between the community, industry, businesses, farmers and the Government to use water wisely.
Under the NSW Government’s Metropolitan Water Plan we are undertaking a range of initiatives to secure our water supplies.
By developing partnerships with key community groups such as these, we can effectively engage and educate people to play a key role in conserving our precious water resources.
The aim of developing these community partnerships is to provide educators with the tools they need to engage the community in taking action to save water.
The projects include:
The projects are based on sound research and methodology and will develop ‘how-to’ guides and resources for use by other educators, as well as detailed case studies to identify and showcase the outcomes achieved.
Participants will also gain a better understanding of current water saving projects and how their actions can help make a difference in reducing water consumption.
These projects will provide water educators with coordination and capacity building support, while providing an excellent forum for sharing ideas and techniques, skills, knowledge and resources.
