To tackle the challenges of climate change and population growth, the NSW Government, business and community are working together to secure Sydney's water supply.
We're making great progress and have already:
- provided 100,000 rebates to save water and 1 in 4 homes have taken part in WaterFix
- established Australia’s three largest recycling projects for homes, industry and the environment
- started building a desalination plant, powered from 100% renewable energy sources
- inspected and repaired all 21,000 kms of water pipes – that’s about the same distance
as travelling around Australia
- worked with business and government to save water and funded around 100
stormwater harvesting, recycling and water saving projects
- installed pumps to access more water, deep in our dams
- Started releasing more water from dams to protect and improve the health of our rivers.
Thanks to everyone’s efforts Sydney’s future water supply is now secure, even with our growing population.
