Phase 1 of the community input was an important part of the review of the Metropolitan Water Plan. The objective was to establish the values that are of high priority to the community in planning for Sydney’s water future.
There was strong consistency in the findings across all the workshops, online survey and existing research.
Three key values emerged.
These and other important issues raised are outlined in the summary of findings. You can also download a full copy of the final report.
The findings from phase 1 are being used in conjunction with economic and environmental analyses of options to develop the most appropriate and balanced mix of measures for securing Sydney’s water supply for the long term. Consideration of these measures will form the basis of phase 2 of the community input.

The first phase of the community consultation included ten workshops across greater Sydney, on attitudes to water use and management.
