The next steps to diversify supplies for a growing population and to insure against droughts include:
- continue water wise rules
- develop an optimised restrictions regime for the next drought based on lessons learnt from this one and on collaborative work being undertaken at the national level
- finalise investigations and obtain planning approval for the Kangaloon groundwater source as an emergency drought supply
- consider new pipe and tunnel delivery options for Shoalhaven River water transfers as part of the review of the plan.
