Thanks to your efforts, we are using the same amount of water now as in 1970, even though there are an extra one million people living in greater Sydney. But we can’t be complacent. It is important that everyone – Government, business and the community – continue to get involved and use water efficiently.
Our target is to reduce the amount of water used each year by greater Sydney by 145 billion litres by 2015.
There are a range of programs you can get involved with which will help you save water at home and at work, as part of the Metropolitan Water Plan. You can also get involved by educating others with a range of resources available on the Water Education Resource Hub.
