All large water users across greater Sydney are now required to prepare Water Savings Action Plans and implement cost effective water efficiency measures.
This will help encourage better knowledge of how much water is being used in their operations, and may result in up to 20 per cent savings in an organisation's water use, as well as associated financial savings.
A total of 237 businesses and 40 Government sites, using more than 50 million litres of water a year, as well as all 44 councils in Sydney were required to prepare Water Savings Action Plans by March 2006.
To find out more visit the Department of Water and Energy website or view Chapter 6 of the Plan.
Water Saving Action Plans can help reduce an organisation's water use by up to 20 per cent.
